Give Peas a Chance... Then Let it Bee
"50 million people don't have enough food to eat, in a nation that has more than enough food. Everyone deserves a place at the table."
We begin our unit by watching the 2013 documentary "A Place at the Table." From their website: "A Place at the Table shows us how hunger poses serious economic, social and cultural implications for our nation, and that it could be solved once and for all, if the American public decides — as they have in the past — that making healthy food available and affordable is in the best interest of us all." Students will think critically about the impact of childhood hunger, both the short-term and long-term effects. They will also learn about the impact government has on hunger in America. |

Giving Peas a Chance in our Classroom
We can help to eliminate hunger and create a sustainable source of healthy food by planning to plant food for our school garden.
Once the seedlings have worked their way out of the bag, they will be transplanted into dirt indoors until they can be planted in the garden. This work will be done in Science class. See our Seeds in Action!
